Clergy Child Protection Retraining

Cardinal Sean requires that all clergy receive specific training in child protection at least every 5 years.  In 2019 and early 2020, most priests received retraining.  We are now retraining all deacons and those priests who did not participate in the retraining process either in 2019/2020 or in targeted trainings that were run in 2021.

All clergy who were originally trained in 2017 or earlier and have not already completed the retraining must complete it now.  This includes all priests and deacons who are incardinated in the Archdiocese of Boston and/or who have faculties here.  Religious Order priests who are living in Boston but not assigned through the Office of Clergy Personnel can substitute their annual Praesidium training, but we will need documentation.

All retired priests who are living in a rectory or saying Masses in a parish must complete the retraining.  Retired deacons who are still serving in a parish or other ministry must complete the retraining.  Retired priests and deacons who are not in ministry may be qualified for a waiver through the Office of Clergy Personnel.

The following retraining sessions have been scheduled for the month of May.  Sessions must be attended in person and last for approximately 3 hours.
