Disciples In Mission
In 2012, Cardinal Seán O’Malley, OFM Cap, brought forth the Pastoral Plan Disciples in Mission. Recognizing that the Church is entrusted with the great mission of evangelization, Disciples in Mission called the parishes of the Archdiocese of Boston to become strong, stable, intentional, and effective centers of the New Evangelization.
While many parts of the pastoral planning process focus on administrative and structural adjustments, the end goal is always to better strengthen the parish as a whole for mission. Though the living out of Disciples in Mission no longer looks the same, the Cardinal Archbishop invites each of us to live out our mission. In his letter A New Pentecost, Cardinal Seán summarizes Pentecost as the moment when the Apostles were emboldened by the Spirit to begin to share the Gospel.
“Pentecost is the moment of empowering. The disciples are called to live in Christ’s Spirit and do His works. We are called to do so ourselves today.” - Cardinal Seán O’Malley, OFM Cap. A New Pentecost
We are called to be disciples in mission.
