Call for Healy Award Nominations for 2021 (Due 6/1)

Dear Friends, every year, the Bishop James Augustine Healy Award is given in honor of the first recognized black Catholic bishop in the United States. The Robert L. Ruffin Award is presented in remembrance of a lay Catholic who was very active in the Black Catholic Congress movement during the late 19th century. This is a wonderful opportunity for us to express our gratitude and honor the achievements of inspiring people in our community and the Archdiocese of Boston. Please take a moment to prayerfully consider nominating someone you feel is a strong candidate for the Bishop Healy Award or the Robert L. Ruffin Award which will be presented on Saturday, November 13, 2021 at the Cathedral of the Holy Cross in Boston. Please click to read the nomination form with a description of each award. Fill it out and email it back to [email protected] by Tuesday, June 1st. If you have any questions, please email [email protected]. Let us continue to be united in prayer and support of one another during these times.

    Faith Journals from Boomwriter (5/26)

Join us for an introduction to Faith Journals demo and Q&A for Archdiocese of Boston parishes. Faith Journals engage children in a daily and joyful relationship with God. These journals are an online tool for religious educators to accompany children in their spiritual journey through consistent reading, reflection, and writing on the Word of God. Educators set up groups of any size, use Bible verses or content of their choosing to create and share customized writing activities to encourage children to talk with God. They can monitor children's writing and provide personalized guidance and feedback. Digital or printed copies of completed faith journals are available to families. The demo will be led by Loli Lopez-Montenegro and Ken Haynes from Boomwriter. Register and receive free demo access in advance at https://forms.gle/qDA4KShodif77MKb9

The Domestic Church Project: Holiness Starts At Home (6/8)

Join Nancy Bandzuch of Catholic Sprouts and The Domestic Church Project as she briefly discusses the new Domestic Church Project platform for parishes.  Parents aren’t passing the faith on to their children because they often don’t feel that they know how.  At the same time, the pandemic sent much of the activity of faith formation back to the home.  Parents need training, formation, and support.  This is where the Domestic Church Project comes in.  It is a six-week at-home experience for the whole family that will teach them how to establish and cultivate the life of their Domestic Church.  It equips parents to assume their role as the primary educators of their children in the faith.  Learn more at https://www.domesticchurchproject.com/dcp-group-use.  A recording of a recent similar webinar is available for you to preview at this link.  Find time to meet with Nancy personally at this link.  Register here.

World Youth Day Lisbon – August 2023

Although the specific dates have not yet been confirmed by the Vatican, we know that the location for the next International World Youth Day Gathering is Lisbon, Portugal, and that it will be held in August of 2023.  The Archdiocese of Boston is once again partnering with Dube Travel to provide a pilgrimage opportunity for groups and individuals who want to attend. The pilgrimage that Dube Travel is offering includes a visit to the Fatima shrine and sites associated with the apparition of Our Lady whose Feast Day is celebrated on May 13th.  Visit the website for the Shrine of Our Lady of the Rosary of Fatima to learn more about the apparition and the shrine itself:  https://www.fatima.pt/en.
